Planning Your Meals
The best tip I can give anyone looking to move toward a healthy eating lifestyle would be to plan your meals.
Before I really started cooking I would go to the grocery store and just buy stuff that I thought I would eat. It always seemed to be the same things pastas, frozen dinners and of course cereal and milk. When I started toward my healthy lifestyle I would go and buy fruits and vegetable with no real plan on how to use them. A lot of times they would go bad before I could use them. At this point in my life not having a meal plan makes no sense to me. How did I ever go grocery shopping when I didn't know what I was going to cook?!
Every Sunday before I go grocery shopping I sit down then write out a dinner menu for the week and write my grocery list according to what I'm going to be cooking.
When you plan your menu, plan to have a fruit or vegetable at every meal. I'm not a morning person, so don't expect any breakfast recipes here! I always throw fruit in with my cereal. Blueberries, raspberries, or my favorite, banana slices. :)
